Special Thanks to our 5k Title Sponsor this year:

Rudy's Bar B Q

to honor a very special person- Jim Bassett.

Jim Bassett 7/22/23 to 11/12/12. Jim Bassett was a lifelong educator who had a passion for running. Growing up in Amarillo, Texas, Jim started running in high school. He qualified for the mile run in the state track meet his last year in high school. He was on the cross country team in college and then took some time off to raise a family and continue his education. After getting his doctorate from Texas A&M in 1965, he started running again and ran 14 marathons after the age of 50. Jim ran until he couldn't run anymore. Jim loved children and always had time for his 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The Jim Bassett/Rudy's Bar-B-Q 5K Run is dedicated to a man who loved children. The Jim Bassett family and Rudy's Bar-B-Q are honored to be able to help the children of Comal County.

A Children’s Advocacy Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization supported by a local community that provides a child-friendly, non-institutional forensic interview to children that allege abuse. CAC’s also help to coordinate all local agencies that take a role in the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse cases.

1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18.

Only 1 in 10 will tell.

Over 40,000 of those children tell what happened to them at

advocacy centers every year in Texas.

247 of those children live in Comal County, Texas.
